Riverview Charter School’s deadline for submission of applications to enroll new students is Tuesday, February 7. More than 600 students have already applied for the limited number of available seats, which will be chosen by lottery, at the popular school. Last week the school won a directed verdict against the school board, allowing Riverview to increase its 2012-2013 enrollment. Riverview victorious in lawsuit against school board
Riverview Charter School claimed sweet victory in its lawsuit against the Beaufort County School Board and School District when US District Court Judge Sol Blatt ruled Wednesday, February 1, that Riverview is entitled to increase its enrollment. The ruling was a directed verdict by the judge in favor of Riverview, giving Riverview total victory on the issue that otherwise would have been submitted to the jury for a decision. Coosaw Jack says: This was a Sunrise to remember. I took over 125 photos today and had to keep most of them … whittling them down took awhile and was tough. With clouds scattered everywhere and the water perfectly still, the first light colored them a deep crimson and later washed out to greys and blues … nice. Patrol car, apartment building shot with multiple rounds
On Monday, January 9, several bullet holes and a shattered window were discovered on a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office patrol car parked at Plantation Point Apartments in Bluffton.
According to the sheriff’s department, the patrol car sustained around $2,000 in damages. Along with the patrol car, several bullet holes were also discovered in an apartment building. The sheriff’s department reported that multiple rounds were fired hitting both the patrol car and the apartment building behind the car.
No suspects have been identified at this time.
