Waight Street resident arrested on drug trafficking and distribution charges

    On Tuesday members of the Beaufort/Jasper Multi-Agency Drug Task Force (DTF) arrested Mark Ellis Bonds II, age 32, at his residence, 603 Waight Street in Beaufort, on numerous drug charges after conducting a search of his residence, according to a press release from the Beaufort County sheriff’s department today.

    The search warrant was obtained after an investigation revealed that Bonds was allegedly storing and selling prescription drugs from that location.

    At approximately 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, DTF members executed the search warrant and located Bonds, along with two females and a young child, in the residence. Investigators seized numerous prescription pills of varying schedule classes. They also discovered and seized a gun and a large quantity of US currency.

    According to the records of the Beaufort County detention center, Bonds spent the night in jail but posted cash bonds totalling $130,000 by the next day, Wednesday.

    Charges:

    • Sale and distribution of schedule II drugs (Dilaudid)
    • Sale and distribution of schedule II drugs within one-half mile of a school (Dilaudid)
    • Possession with intent to distribute schedule IV drug (Clonazepam)
    • Possession with intent to distribute schedule II drug (Dilaudid)
    • Possession with intent to distribute schedule II drug (Methadone)
    • Trafficking schedule IV Drug (Alprazolam)
    • Possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime

    Seized:

    • 9-tablets of Dilaudid
    • 128-tablets of Alprazolam
    • 40-tablets of Methadone
    • 43-tablets of Clonazepam
    • 1-.32 caliber Colt revolver
    • $7,000.00 in US Currency
