County cancels American Express for tax and fee payments
County leaders have determined that the administrative fee charged by American Express for the use of their card for payment of county taxes and fees is no longer feasible and cost effective, according to a press release.
Because of this decision, the current agreement with American Express will end as of August 31, 2010. Starting September 1, 2010, the County will only accept MasterCard, Visa, or Discover Card.
Again, this change in county credit card policy is to reduce County expenses. We apologize for any inconvenience to American Express Credit Cardholders.
