    Man barricades himself in home on Hilton Head Island

    The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office was engaged in an incident with a barricaded subject on Hilton Head Island, Wednesday night, August 18 according to a press release.

    At approximately 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night, August 18, a disgruntled man contacted the Beaufort County Dispatch Center summoning deputies to his home. After the deputies’ arrived, the man barricaded himself in his home on High Bluff Road home in Hilton Head Plantation.

    It was not known if the man was armed, however, he did make threats suggesting he was armed. The Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team and Negotiators were on the scene and were attempting to make contact with him to resolve the incident.

    Area residents were asked to remain in their homes. The reverse 911 system was initiated through Emergency Management to notify citizens within the immediate area of the law enforcement activity.
