Frank Weil’s economic analysis is on the mark
I do not know Frank Weil, the author of “A Two Track Global Economy” which appeared on August 16 nor have I ever read any of his previous work. However, I want to commend you for publishing his even-handed and thoughtful commentary on how the “the economic world is behaving.” This is a sanity inducing piece at a time when our public discourse has become increasingly crazed and irresponsible.
He correctly notes that while “the stimulus package . . . was applied so relatively quickly and early (and brilliantly) in the recession” it has had “different effects at different times on the economy at large.”
Given Mr. Weil’s experience and perspective, his explanation of the realities of our “two track economy” is instructive and sobering. His tone is calm, rational and a balm for our troubled times.
In a period when political activists of all stripes are obsessed with demonizing those who don’t agree with them, Mr. Weil offers sensible guidance about our need for “regrouping and refining our bearings.”
