Coast Guard cutter gets tangled on downtown sea wall
The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter “Yellow Fin” was on display at Beaufort’s Downtown Waterfront for the Water Festival and was leaving this past Sunday afternoon. Somehow the anchor got dropped and became hooked on the top of the sea wall.
It took about 5 minutes to get the anchor loose. Meanwhile a sharp-eyed member of the Beaufort Water Search and Rescue squad took this photo from the 25-foot Mako rescue boat. The squad members considered, for a moment, asking the Coasties if they needed the squad’s help. It was probably one of the Coast Guard’s more embarrassing moments.
