July 11: County to close McTeer Bridge
July 11
Beaufort County will close the McTeer Bridge from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. Sunday, July 11, while crews install equipment for the Intelligent Traffic System (ITS).
The ITS includes cameras which monitor traffic. The system provides a valuable tool for emergency management personnel, law enforcement and citizens on a daily basis and during evacuations. Crews must block the roadway with a heavy crane while they install a large concrete pole to support the cameras which will be positioned beside the foot of the bridge on Lady’s Island. Motorists are asked to plan accordingly.
Live feed from Beaufort County traffic cameras can be viewed online at the County website, www.bcgov.net. Select the tab for “Departments” on the home page, then access the option for “Emergency Management”. Traffic is also broadcast during rush hours from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and again from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on The County Channel, which is carried on the home page of the county website and on local cable television services.
