    Founded in 1996 and owned by Beaufort natives Merritt Patterson and Leith Webb, Beaufort Construction Inc. is northern Beaufort County’s premier commercial construction company. Over the years, the company has built more than 102 commercial structures ranging from the Hilton Head Airplane Hanger complex to the Port Royal Center and the Lady’s Island BB&T bank.

    Beaufort Construction Inc. is bringing to the readers of The Beaufort Tribune a series of articles about the buildings it has constructed with a focus on the people who operate the businesses in the buildings.     Dean K. Morrissey, Managing Member for Corporate Development. He has extensive real estate experience spanning 25 years. He was Vice President of Oxford Development involved in the development, financing and construction of several student condominium projects in Oxford, Ohio from 1984 through 1989. In 1989, Mr. Morrissey and Oxford Development were involved in the development, marketing and construction of Secession Golf Club, a private, nationally renowned golf club in Beaufort, SC. In 1992-98 he marketed Brays Island Plantation, an exclusive private community in Sheldon, SC. In 1998 he became Vice President of Marketing and Sales for the Ford Plantation, a private sporting community in Richmond Hill, GA. Since late 2000, he has been a managing partner for the Millennium Real Estate Group and has been involved in the development of commercial, medical and multifamily communities for the partnership. He is a graduate of Colby College in Waterville, Maine and resides in Beaufort, SC with his wife and two daughters. Mr. Morrissey has been active in local community programs as the Board Treasurer for the Beaufort County YMCA, member of the advisory board for affordable housing in Beaufort County, SC, member of the local Military Affairs Committee and served as coach for the Beaufort County American Legion Baseball program for eight years from 1990 through 1997.

    Landon K.Thorne is Millennium Real Estate Group’s Managing Member for Finance and Administration. Landon has been active as a principal in merchant banking, corporate finance and the sponsorship of portfolio real estate investments for more than 30 years. Landon has extensive international development experience and has been a principal or senior adviser to projects in the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa. Landon is licensed as both a Real Estate Broker and Mortgage Broker in the State of Florida. Landon is a graduate of Yale University and retired from the United States Marine Corps Reserve in 2002 with the rank of Colonel. Landon is conversant in several foreign languages and has served internationally as a military attaché. Landon currently Chairs the Lowcountry Workforce Investment Board and is a Trustee of the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International affairs. He has served on the Secretary of the Navy Marine Corps Reserve Policy Board in addition to numerous corporate and public service boards. Landon is a sought after speaker and op-ed writer on topics related to international policy and business. He is a published author, poet and photographer. He resides with his wife, Leslie, on a sporting plantation in the South Carolina Lowcountry.

    Linda Freeman is the Office Manager for the Group. She is a graduate of Technical College of the Lowcountry with a degree in Business Management. Prior to joining the Millennium Real Estate Group in 2002, Linda was accounts manager at Luray Grain Company in Luray, SC where she managed an extensive accounts payable/receivable system. Linda also manages her husband’s construction business from their home in Cummings, SC. In addition to her important management role at the Company, Linda is very active in community affairs. She leads a children’s musical group for her church, is a star performer on a local softball team and an avid gardener.
