Big catch by crew of “My Time Out”
The Crew of “My Time Out” participated in the first leg of the South Carolina Governors Billfish Tournament 2010 held at Bohicket Marina on John’s Island May 12-15.
The “My Time Out” crew caught and released the first Blue Marlin of the season at 9:49 a.m. on Thursday, the first day of fishing. This release along with Dolphin and Wahoo earned them second place in the tournament out of 28 boats. They received 600 points towards the Governors Cup Annual Trophy.
The next leg of the Governors Cup series will be held at Georgetown Marina May 26 through May 29.
The crew of “My Time Out” was Captain Ty Cordray, Christopher Gibson, Captain Brian McCaffree, Captain Mike Perry, Captain Ralph Worrell, and boat owner Captain Frank Gibson.
Editor’s Note: After we published this article we discovered that the Blue Marlin shown in the photograph is not the one caught and released by the crew of “My Time Out”. But we are told it looks like the one they caught. The fish pictured was caught by another boat in the tournament and was the first Blue Marlin killed in the tournament in the past four years, according to a spokesperson in Captain Frank Gibson’s office. Contestants who kill a fish must do so within strict limits on size and are not allowed to earn points towards the Governors Cup Annual Trophy.

I guess you didn’t read the editor’s note;

Please excuse me, but I noticed the article stated “caught and released”. That Blue Marlin looks really dead to me. Just makes you wonder, who did they release it to?
