On-site accreditation assessment scheduled for Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office
The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) has scheduled the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office for an on-site assessment as part of a program to achieve accreditation for the Sheriff’s Office. The accreditation program requires agencies to comply with standards that address agency functions such as: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.
As part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a Public Information Session scheduled for Sunday, April 25 at 6:00 p.m. The session will be conducted in the County Council Chambers of the Beaufort County Administration building located at 100 Ribaut Road, Beaufort, SC 29902. Agency employees and the public are invited to offer comments by telephone at 843-470-3276 on Monday, April 26, between the hours of 1:00 and 4:00 p.m.
Comments will be taken by the CALEA assessors, Major Paul Baggett and Captain David Taylor. Telephone comments as well as appearances at the Public Information Session should address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA standards.
Persons wishing to submit written comments about the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office ability to comply with the standards for accreditation may send them to: Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc., 10306 Eaton Place, Suite 100, Fairfax, Virginia 22030-2215.
