Men lured from NC to Beaufort to buy motorcycle, robbed at gunpoint

Two men were lured to Beaufort from North Carolina by an advertisement to buy a Honda motorcycle, then robbed at gunpoint at approximately 1:00 p.m. Sunday, according to a report from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

The victims, a 66-year old man and his 25-year old son, said they came to the area, traveling from North Carolina, to meet with a subject concerning the possible purchase of an advertised Honda motorcycle. The subject, whom they knew only as “T-Rock”, initially instructed them to go to 271 Seabrook Road, they reported. After arriving and finding no one there, they were again contacted and given directions to Delaney Circle and Creekmore Lane.

As the victims approached Creekmore Lane, they said they observed a black male who motioned them to follow him further down the road. The 25-year old victim got out of the vehicle to follow the subject, leaving his father waiting at the vehicle.

The son followed the subject behind an abandoned trailer, where another suspect was waiting, armed with a handgun. He was allegedly held at gunpoint, and ordered to empty his pockets.

When the suspects discovered he had no money, the armed suspect left, returning with the father, according to the report. Both victims were then held at gunpoint behind the trailer.

The suspects removed an undisclosed amount of cash from the father’s wallet, then fled the scene on foot, leaving both victims unharmed, the report said.

During the course of the ongoing investigation, deputies identified the armed suspect as 26-year old Brandon Adron Singleton, pictured left. Warrants for Armed Robbery, Kidnapping, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Violent Crime have been obtained, and investigators are currently searching for Singleton.

Singleton’s last known address is 8 Bear Swamp Lane in Seabrook. He is described as a black male, approximately 5’07”, 135 lbs, with dreadlocks.

The suspect known as “T-Rock” has yet to be positively identified. Investigators are continuing to follow up on leads regarding this suspect’s identity. He is described as a black male, between 20-30 years of age, approximately 6’00”, 150 lbs. with a shaved head.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information to contact either Investigator Sgt. J. Fraser at 842-470-3267 or the Beaufort County Dispatch Center at 843-524-2777.

F-35Bs will be more than twice as loud

In the May 2010 draft EIS (Environmental Impact Statement) for the Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, the key and crucial noise data for the F-35B was omitted in the 487 pages, substituting instead data assumptions based on the lighter, quieter  Air Force F-35A:  The Navy wanted the public to comment on the alternative proposals without this major environmental component.
