Sheriff’s Office investigating strong arm robbery
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a robbery that occurred on the evening of Thursday, April 1, at Martin Luther King Memorial Park.
At approximately 5:30 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a strong arm robbery that had allegedly occurred 30 minutes earlier. Upon arrival, deputies met with the 65-year old male victim who said that he’d been robbed by two unknown men.
The victim stated that he had just arrived at the park to meet some friends when he was approached by two black males. The suspects allegedly grabbed him, shoved him against a pole, and held him there while they forcibly removed his wallet from his pants pocket. After removing an undisclosed amount of cash from the wallet, the suspects fled on foot headed east on Sea Island Parkway. The victim was unharmed during the attack.
One suspect was described as being between 28-40 years of age, approximately 5’09”, 180 lbs. The other was described as being between 18-20 years of age, approximately 5’06”, 170 lbs. No clothing description was available for either suspect.
