Lowcountry boy and his dog enjoy Lowcountry snow
With warmer weather predicted for the Lowcountry in coming days, it’s hard to believe that only a week ago the ground here was covered in snow for the first time in more than 20 years. Jake Hull, pictured left, wasn’t even born back then, so he and his contemporaries were especially thrilled when they awoke to snow-covered ground last Saturday.
Jake has caught a bass while fishing in the Combahee River. He has harvested a buck while roaming the forests of Jacksonboro. He has skim-boarded on the flat sand that is as hard as concrete at the waterline of the Atlantic Ocean on Hunting Island. But Jake Hull has never had an epic snowball fight while being pelted by Lowcountry snowflakes until last Saturday.
Jake Hull, age sixteen, and his dog, Dixie Hull, enjoyed their first real honest-to-goodness Lowcountry snow, such as we have not seen here since 1989.
