Wanted: Beaufort Orchestra adds enticement to conductor bidding
Beaufort Orchestra adds enticement to conductor bidding
If you have ever wanted to conduct an orchestra, here’s your chance. The Beaufort Symphony orchestra is offering a once in a lifetime opportunity for some lucky member of the general public to conduct the ensemble. Up for bid, starting at a mere $200, is the chance to lead the orchestra at two performances in December.
Music Director Fred Devyatkin will step aside for one number at both the Thursday, December 17, and the Sunday, December 20, holiday 2009 concerts to enjoy with the audience the winning bidder’s performance. No previous musical experience is necessary to be successful. The maestro will provide a conducting lesson before the concerts to prepare the winning bidder for the experience.
The winning bidder will receive a baton with which to conduct and to take home as a souvenir, as well as an autographed photograph with Maestro Devyatkin.
This item is tax deductible. The minimum bid is $200. So if you’ve ever dreamed of conducting a symphony orchestra, here’s your chance!
The performances, entitled Holiday Treats!, will feature Nutcracker selections and music of the season. They will be held at the Beaufort Performing Arts Center, 801 Carteret Street, Beaufort.
