    Beaufort police officers recognized for achievements

    Officer of the Quarter Owen Goethie, right, receives award from Chief Matthew Clancy

    During a training session held Thursdy morning, Beaufort Police Chief Matthew Clancy recognized three Beaufort police officers for recent achievements.

    1-1Sergeant Michael King,left, received a letter of appreciation for his part in assisting an elderly woman from her smoke filled home at a fire that occurred on October 22.

    2-1Officer Matthew Rausch, below, was recognized for being named as the Beaufort Exchange Club Officer of the Year. Among his accomplishments that garnered him the award were his in-depth community involvement and multiple investigations that led to the arrests of accused drug dealers.

    The final award was the “Officer of the Quarter” which was presented to Officer Owen Goethie, above. Officer Goethie was recognized by his peers and supervisors for sustained superior performance in his duties. Also noted in Officer Goethie’s citation is his positive attitude and ability to remain upbeat and cheerful under trying conditions.

    Chief Clancy stated that he is proud of the performance of these officers and all of the Beaufort police officers who serve the city so well.
