Big bang coming today

    bigbangBig bang coming today

If you live near Beaufort River between downtown Beaufort and Parris Island, you’re going to hear a big bang Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. Misener Marine Construction, Inc. has scheduled a test in connection with the McTeer Bridge project on SC 802. Nearby residents and passersby will hear the noise.

The company plans to perform a statnamic test on the test shaft located on the south west side of the bridge. The test is intended to confirm that the foundation will support the bridge design.

The project is one of Beaufort County ’s priority highway improvement projects funded by a 1 % voter-approved sales tax. It includes construction of a parallel bridge adjacent to the McTeer Bridge and widening and intersection improvements on SC 802. The work is expected to be completed in August of 2011.
