Music in Beaufort – Upcoming Events

musicSince the late 1940s when a small group of women led by the late wife of a local lawyer, Thelma Harvey, and a young bride from New York City, Harriet Keyserling, founded the Community Concert Series in performances at the Beaufort Elementary School auditorium (now the USCB Performing Arts Center), Beaufort has been a venue for serious music in the South. Of late, performances have become more frequent and more popular, no doubt due to the influx of folks from afar who have brought their music appreciation and support of the arts with them. Here’s the schedule of upcoming music events:

Sunday, Nov. 1 5:00 p.m. USCB Festival Series – Rieko Aizawa, piano; Toby Apel, viola; Corey Cerovsek, violin; Edward Arron, cello & host in a concert of chamber music by Beethoven, Schumann and Jean Françaix. USCB Performing Arts Center, Carteret Street, Beaufort, tickets available.
Sunday, Nov. 8 4:00 p.m., St. Peter’s Catholic Church – Gary Rakestraw Organ Concert , 70 Lady’s Island Drive, Beaufort, free.
