    Police arrest woman for alleged child abuse

    Beaufort police arrested a 24-year-old woman yesterday and charged her with inflicting great bodily harm on a four-year-old child, a girl, who had been taken by ambulance to Beaufort Memorial Hospital.

    Police arrived at the hospital in response to a report of possible child abuse and arrested Naticia Laurent, 24, the child’s stepmother. The child underwent treatment at the hospital, according to a news release by Chief Matthew Clancy of the police department.

    The arrested woman resides at 2013 Stone Martin Drive, Beaufort. She is being held for prosecution in the Beaufort County Detention Center.
