Lane closure on SC 802 Monday

Highway contractors are scheduled to close one lane of Savannah Highway (SC 802) from Cleveland Drive to Baynard Road between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday, September 21. This stretch of SC 802 runs between the Broad River Bridge and Shell Point.

Work is being performed to the edge of the roadway with clearing for widening and other improvements.

The project is one of Beaufort County’s ten priority highway improvement projects funded by a 1 % voter-approved sales tax.  It includes construction of a parallel bridge adjacent to the McTeer Bridge and widening of Lady’s Island Drive (SC 802) from Sea Island Parkway (US 21) to Ribaut Road.

Motorists are experiencing intermittent slowing of traffic crossing the Mc Teer Bridge and Lady’s Island Drive as construction workers move equipment.  It is expected to be completed in August of 2011.
