Pat Conroy writes new book titled South of Broad

p8050092-12NBC’s “Today Show, Weekend Edition” team came to Beaufort Wednesday to interview local resident Pat Conroy at his home and discuss the release of his latest book, South of Broad, at Beaufort’s downtown bookstore, Bay Street Trading Company. Pictured above are Bay Street Trading Company’s Tony Pierro, Lisa Estes, Ivey Arnold and D.B. Skotzky with NBC’s producer, Danielle Kowalski.

Pat will be signing his latest release on August 29 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Bay Street Trading Company, The Bookstore, on Bay Street in downtown Beaufort. The title refers to Broad Street in downtown Charleston, considered to be the dividing line between snobs and hoi polloi in the sacred city of Charleston.

After the Today team left Conroy’s house they came to Bay Street Trading Company to interview the owner, Lisa Estes, and her staff regarding her store’s history, the relationship with Pat Conroy, and the upcoming book signing.

Several local business people were interviewed too. The show is scheduled to air on August 15 on NBC.
