Back-to-school items are exempt from SC sales tax this weekend
Sales tax holiday runs Friday through Sunday
Beginning Friday at exactly 12:01 a.m. and ending Sunday at midnight, retail stores in South Carolina are offering certain merchandise for sale without sales tax, courtesy of the South Carolina Department of Revenue.
Items exempt from sales tax during this period include:
- clothing
- clothing accessories
- footwear
- school supplies
The sales tax holiday has proven especially popular with parents of school-age children, who are preparing their kids for return to school after the summer vacation.
