Public request to Scott Dadson, city manager
April 23, 2014
Mr. Scott Dadson, City Manager
City of Beaufort
Dear Mr. Dadson,
Editorial: Civic Master Plan at center of debacle
Editorial comment to Navarro, Chaffin & Verity: Don’t kill the goose that laid the golden egg
The plan unanimously approved by Beaufort’s city council in 2003, known as Phase 2 of the Sasaki Plan, shows to the five current members of city council the way out of the planning debacle they have allowed to be created by Messrs. Stephen Navarro, Jim Chaffin and Jon Verity for the destruction of the public’s downtown waterfront parkland.
Navarro, Chaffin & Verity broke their promises, misled city and public about downtown waterfront development
Public statements and contractual commitments made by Stephen Navarro, Jim Chaffin and Jon Verity show that they have broken their promises and misled city council and the public about their intentions regarding the proposed downtown waterfront commercial development on the city’s parkland.
Over the past week more than 1,500 Beaufort residents and visitors have sent the same consistent message to the five members of city council: Don’t sell the public’s parkland for private development.
